The SAWBO App transforms Android devices into a robust platform for global outreach and educational training. Developed by Scientific Animations Without Borders (SAWBO), this application hosts an impressive library of over 150 educational animations aimed at international development audiences, available in more than 280 languages. Each animation is meticulously co-created and vetted with global experts, ensuring the content's credibility and relevance.

SAWBO's focus on Research for Development (R4D) allows for complex ideas to be distilled into clear, digestible formats accessible to individuals across varying literacy levels. The app provides a seamless experience, allowing users to select their country, preferred language, and topic of interest to quickly access pertinent animations created by SAWBO and its collaborators.

The app facilitates offline access by enabling users to download videos of interest for later use or to share via WhatsApp, Bluetooth®, or other platforms, making it particularly valuable for those in areas with limited Internet connectivity. This feature is especially beneficial for missionaries and international development volunteers who operate in remote regions.

SAWBO collaborates with ministries of health and agriculture, international research centers, and national agricultural research services to produce content that addresses varying developmental needs. With a documented viewership exceeding 60 million across at least 130 countries, the impact of SAWBO's animations is both significant and far-reaching. The app continues to be developed and maintained under the auspices of SAWBO at Purdue University, building on a legacy that began at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and Michigan State University.
